8. Thyroparathyroidectomized (25 letters)

This word is actually the longest word found in any of the Shakespeare’s works. Another interesting fact about this word is that its the longest word featuring alternating consonants and vowels.

This term refers to a political movement during the 19th century in Great Britain which sought to separate the church and the state.

5. Floccinaucinihilipilification (29 letters)

This is one of the longest words that many dictionaries such as Merriam-Webster do not recognize. Floccinaucinihilipilification is the act of describing something as unimportant or being worthless.

4. Pseudopseudohypoparathyroidism (30 letters)

A relatively mild form of pseudohypoparathyroidism that is characterized by normal levels of calcium and phosphorus in the blood.

3. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (34 letters)

If you are a Mary Poppins fan then you should definitely know this. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is the right word to say when there is nothing to say.

2. Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia (36 letters)

Oh the irony on this word. It is one of the longest words in the dictionary and the meaning is fear of long words. Crazy right?

And the winner unfortunately is a lung disease. This word was coined by the president of the NPL (National Puzzlers League) as a synonym for silicosis.
